"Yeah, I Don't Think That's The Olympic Swimming Team."

Yesterday was a fun day at the beach... even if we drove all the way to Encinitas and were only there for about an hour. I mean, hey, it's not like there are beaches in Carlsbad or Oceanside or anything. Lord, no.

I kid, I kid.

It was fun. I boogie-boarded. I sucked at it and only caught 1.5 waves, but I guess 1.5 is better than none at all. It was HOT! My GOODNESS, the sun is a fiery she-devil this time of year. It's hot today, too. I'm trying not to move around a lot so my body doesn't produce heat, and I can sit here like a luke-warm potato.

Anyway, after the beach yesterday some of us went back to our friend's pool. My hair endured severe amounts of sun, salt and chlorine yesterday, so it felt like a cat's tongue when I tried washing it this morning. Conditioner helps.

Diet begins: NOW. I have been far too lenient with what I shove my face into over the past three weeks. I'm not doing bi-weekly Callanetics anymore, so I don't have much to keep my butt a well-rounded peach.

Pictured above: the ideal butt

Summer To-Do Activities
- Read "Tropics Of Orange"
- Read "The Book Thief"
- Read "Richard II"
- Read "Othello" (I have quite a queue of books)
- Fix my ugly painting
- Draw Michael a picture of his life
- Send out 'thank you' cards to my relatives (something I've put off for 2 months; they probably won't even remember why I'm thanking them at this point)
- Get items organized and packed for WHITTIER! YEEEEEEEEE
- Read "Writing Down The Bones" (optional)
- Start a new painting
- Or finish the other painting I got halfway through
- Start a jogging routine (...I crack myself up)

That's all that comes to mind right now. Note how none of these things involve spending money. That, dear friends, is because I have no money to spend. The best things in life really are free! Sike.

Tonight I'm seeing "Don't Dress For Dinner," a show I hear is very funny. I will believe these claims. One of my instructors from Mira Costa is in it. I've never seen him act, but I hear he's good. I believe these claims as well. The show is playing at North Coast Repertory Theatre. I've only been there a handful of times because it's so far away, but every show I've seen there has been nothing short of mind-boggling. I saw "Rashomon" back in 2007, and it was indescribable. Beautiful, captivating, hilarious, suspenseful, intriguing... okay, maybe it's partially describable. And I was actually there earlier this week to see "Shakespeare Unscripted" with a group of friends. I ran into some of my past English teachers there too, so that was cool. It was amazing. 'Amazing' is such a general and bland adjective, but seriously folks, I can't think of any word to more accurately depict it. It was improvised Shakespeare. Without any preconceived planning, this group of actors made up a full-lenth Shakespearean play. Right on the spot! They improvised Shakespeare. And it was excellent! They spoke in actual Shakespearean language, used Shakespearesque figurative language, used Shakespearesque plots, created Shakespearesque characters... the play essentially WAS Shakespeare, recreated out of thin air. These people are GENIUSES! I was completely in awe. Plus, the show was funny as hell. I would love to do that sort of thing for a living. But I can't even wrap my mind around how intelligent and quick and clever these people must be to pull off something like that so spectacularly. This was some high-calibur improv.

And it made me broke.

You know what I want to do? Improv Everywhere. Check out their stuff on Youtube. Imagine doing this stuff all the time...

Some dude who I don't know but knows a lot of my theatre friends came and saw "Julius Caesar," and then posted a vlog "reviewing" it. I figured, cool, I would like to hear someone's opinion about the play. The only reason I knew this video even existed was because he tagged all my friends in it on Facebook, so it showed up in my newsfeed that "X friends have been tagged in a video." So I started watching it... nothing, just some music playing... then a dude's face in the dark... he's talking about things that don't really matter to me... and then he says it. "I've never seen a Shakespeare play before, so--" So NOTHING. I stopped the video right there and went about my business. Can someone explain to me why this irritated/s me so much? I should be happy for the kid, that he has finally been exposed to the greatest playwright of all time. And yet I am hung up on the fact that some dude with zero Shakespeare under his belt is "reviewing" a Shakespearean play. Is it because I find this presumptuous? Is it because I feel like he doesn't deserve to have an opinion about Shakespeare? DO I feel like he doesn't deserve to have an opinion about Shakespeare? DOES he deserve to have an opinion about Shakespeare? My mind ponders... as it is the only part of me (that I'm aware of) that has the ability to ponder.

My latest obsession: peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Why are these so delicious? Discuss.
